Reading this site, completing the intake, and receiving a recommendation from us do not create a solicitor-client relationship with us or with any firm. That relationship begins only when you and a law firm agree to it and sign a retainer.

Nothing here stops a deadline

Limitation periods and notice requirements continue to run regardless of anything you do on this site. Submitting an intake does not preserve, extend or interrupt any deadline. If a deadline may be near, contact a lawyer or your provincial law society's referral service directly, today.

Educational content

Our guides and jurisdictional pages describe general legal structures as at the review date shown on each page. Legislation changes, indexed amounts change annually, and how any rule applies depends on facts we have not assessed. Do not rely on this site as a substitute for advice about your situation.

The introduction

We introduce one firm from our network based on our assessment of fit. We do not guarantee that any firm will accept your file, that any claim will succeed, or any particular outcome, timeline or amount. The firm you retain is independent of us; we are not responsible for the legal services they provide, and your agreement about fees and scope is with them. If you are unhappy with a firm we introduced, tell us — it affects their standing with us, which is the only leverage we have and the reason we ask.

Your responsibilities

Give us accurate information. A match built on inaccurate facts is worse than no match.
Use this site for your own situation or that of someone you are helping, not to scrape, resell or automate against.
Do not send us confidential documents belonging to someone else.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of your use of this site or our service is limited to the amount you paid us, which is nothing. This does not limit any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
