Your information

One match. Nothing sold. Ever.

Our intake asks about your health, your income and your household, because those things determine who should handle your claim. Information like that deserves to be handled carefully, and this page explains exactly how it is.

What we collect

  • What you enter in the intake: incident details, jurisdiction, injuries and treatment, functional and financial impact, insurer posture, preferences, and your contact details.
  • Anything you send us afterwards by email or tell us on the phone.
  • Basic technical information sent by your browser with any web request, and the page you arrived from.

We do not ask for your health card number, social insurance number, banking details or government identification, and you should not send them to us. Nobody legitimately needs those to make a referral.

Why we collect it

To assess your situation, make one match, and contact you about it. That is the entire purpose. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or license your information, and we do not distribute it to multiple firms.

Who sees it

  • The people on our review desk who read your intake.
  • One law firm — and only after you approve it. Nothing goes to any firm until you have seen our recommendation and told us to proceed.
  • Service providers who host our site and deliver our email, bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.

We will disclose information without your consent only where the law requires it. If that ever happens, we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.

One thing you should know

Communications with us are not protected by solicitor-client privilege, because we are not your lawyers. We treat what you tell us as confidential and share it with nobody without your say-so, but privilege begins when you speak with the lawyer we introduce you to. We would rather say this plainly than let you assume otherwise.

How long we keep it

Intakes that result in an introduction are retained while the file is active and for a limited period afterwards so we can follow up on service quality — which is how firms keep or lose their standing with us. Intakes that do not proceed are deleted on request and otherwise purged on a routine schedule. Ask us to delete yours at any time and we will, subject to any record we are legally required to keep.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@injurylawyernearme.ca and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to your provincial privacy regulator.

Cookies and analytics

The intake stores your progress in your own browser's session storage so an interruption does not cost you seven screens of answers. That data stays on your device and is cleared when you submit or close the tab. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell audience data to anyone.

Security

The site is served over TLS and intake submissions are transmitted encrypted and stored with access limited to the review desk. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise — if a breach affecting you occurs, you will be notified as the law requires.

Children

This service is intended for adults. Where an injured person is a minor, we expect a parent or guardian to complete the intake on their behalf.
